UEFA has already announced that it will open an investigation against Barcelona for a “possible breach of UEFA’s legal framework”, and now its president, Ceferin, is the arbiter in Negrera’s case. In an interview with the Slovenian newspaper Ikepa, he said: “Barcelona? The situation is very dangerous.”
“I told myself and the situation is very serious,” said the UEFA president. It is so dangerous that, in my opinion, it is one of the most dangerous things I have seen in football.”
He added, “I cannot comment directly on this for two reasons. Firstly, because we have an independent disciplinary committee responsible for this. And secondly, because I did not dwell on this matter in detail.
And he continued: “At the Spanish level, the matter is specific and cannot have competitive consequences in La Liga, but procedures are underway at the level of the Spanish Civil Prosecutor’s Office. But as far as UEFA is concerned, there is nothing definite.
Ceferin will be re-elected as FIFA President for the period 2023-2027 at the Executive Committee Congress next Wednesday in Lisbon.
As for the UEFA Super League project, he also said: “Obviously they are still trying to do something, but in my opinion, just to improve their negotiating position a bit and try to negotiate something with us. They didn’t fully realize that we had nothing to do negotiating.”
And he continued his attack: “Of course, the ego also plays a certain role in some of these people, and for this reason, they still do something in this field, because they have become accustomed over the years to everyone nodding their heads to achieve their goals.”
